EZ Baccarat rules: what changes
The cards, the totals and the third-card rules stay the same as in classic baccarat. Two things are different:
- No commission: a Banker win pays in full, with no 5% fee.
- The push: if Banker wins with three cards totalling seven, Banker bets are returned. They do not win and they do not lose.
| Bet | Pays | Wins | House edge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Banker | 1 to 1 (push on a three-card 7) | 45.86% | 1.02% |
| Player | 1 to 1 | 44.62% | 1.24% |
| Tie | 8 to 1 | 9.52% | 14.36% |
| Dragon 7 | 40 to 1 | 2.25% | 7.61% |
| Panda 8 | 25 to 1 | 3.45% | 10.19% |
8 decks, exact count of every possible deal. Ties push Banker and Player bets.
Banker house edge: EZ vs classic
- Classic baccarat, Banker paid 0.95 to 1: 1.06%
- EZ Baccarat, Banker with the three-card seven push: 1.02%
| Bet | Pays | Wins | House edge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Banker | 0.95 to 1 (5% commission) | 45.86% | 1.06% |
| Player | 1 to 1 | 44.62% | 1.24% |
| Tie | 8 to 1 | 9.52% | 14.36% |
| Player or banker pair | 11 to 1 | 7.47% | 10.36% |
8 decks, exact count of every possible deal. Ties push Banker and Player bets.
The two Banker edges are close. EZ removes the commission and takes back about the same amount through the push. See baccarat odds for every bet.
Dragon 7 example
Player gets a five and a king (total five) and draws a nine – the total becomes four. Banker gets a two and an ace (total three), draws a four and reaches seven with three cards.
Banker wins with a three-card seven, so the Dragon 7 side bet pays 40 to 1 and Banker main bets push.
This hand comes up with a probability of 2.253%. The Dragon 7 house edge is 7.61%.
Panda 8 side bet
- Wins when: Player wins with three cards totalling eight
- Pays: 25 to 1
- Probability: 3.454%
- House edge: 10.19%
Both side bets have a much higher house edge than the Banker bet, so they cost more per dollar bet over time.
More side bets are compared on the baccarat side bets page.
